Hayat\u0131 hakk\u0131ndaki bilgiler ve \u015fiirleri bu eserlerden al\u0131nm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Sadettin N\u00fczhet\u2019in eserinde 73 \u015fiir, Muhtar Yayla\u2019n\u0131n eserinde gazel, ko\u015fma, mersiye, destan ve tahmisler d\u00e2hil 153 \u015fiir bulunmaktad\u0131r.<br \/>\nKimli\u011fi, eserleri ve ger\u00e7ek ya\u015fam \u00f6yk\u00fcs\u00fc hakk\u0131nda az bilgi bulunan Ged\u00e2\u00ee, on dokuzuncu y\u00fczy\u0131l\u0131n ilk yar\u0131s\u0131 ile yirminci y\u00fczy\u0131l\u0131n ba\u015f\u0131nda ya\u015fam\u0131\u015f bir Bekta\u015fi saz ozan\u0131d\u0131r. 1826 y\u0131l\u0131nda Tokat&#8217;ta do\u011fmu\u015ftur. As\u0131l ad\u0131 Ahmed&#8217;dir. Ona Ged\u00e2\u00ee mahlas\u0131n\u0131 veren \u00fcnl\u00fc Bekta\u015fi Baba&#8217;lar\u0131ndan Sinop&#8217;lu (Batum\u2019lu) Yesari Baba&#8217;d\u0131r. Babas\u0131n\u0131n ad\u0131 Ahmed Muhtard\u0131r, babas\u0131 kereste t\u00fcccar\u0131d\u0131r. Tokatl\u0131 Ged\u00e2y\u00ee ad\u0131yla da an\u0131l\u0131r. \u0130stanbul&#8217;a geldikten sonra, Rumeli Hisar\u0131 tekkesi postunda oturan Nafi Baba&#8217;dan el alarak, Bekta\u015fi olmu\u015ftur. Din d\u0131\u015f\u0131 \u015fiirleri de bulunmaktad\u0131r. 1889&#8217;da \u0130stanbul&#8217;da \u00f6lm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr. \u0130lk\u00f6\u011freniminden sonra babas\u0131n\u0131n keresteci d\u00fckk\u00e2n\u0131nda \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Sevdi\u011fi k\u0131z veremden \u00f6l\u00fcnce saz ve \u015fiire merak salm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bir ara Tokat&#8217;a gelen Batumlu Yesari Baba kendisine saz\u0131n\u0131 ve \u015fiirlerini dinledikten sonra mahlas\u0131n\u0131 sorar, mahlas\u0131 olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6\u011frenince ona Ged\u00e2\u00ee mahlas\u0131n\u0131 verir. Ged\u00e2\u00ee (dilenci) mahlas\u0131yla orada bulunan arkada\u015flar\u0131 dalga ge\u00e7ince, Ged\u00e2\u00ee Bekta\u015f\u00ee babas\u0131na d\u00f6nerek:<br \/>\n\u2014 Baba erenler, fakire dilencili\u011fi mi lay\u0131k g\u00f6rd\u00fcn\u00fcz? Bak\u0131n arkada\u015flar\u0131m daha \u015fimdiden benimle e\u011fleniyor ve alay ediyorlar. \u0130leride bu isim y\u00fcz\u00fcnden ba\u015f\u0131ma daha kim bilir neler gelecektir!.. gibi s\u00f6zler s\u00f6yleyince baba:<br \/>\n\u2014 Vars\u0131n arkada\u015flar\u0131n seninle alay etsinler o\u011flum. Sava\u015f bitince Tokat&#8217;a d\u00f6nerken \u0130stanbul&#8217;a u\u011fram\u0131\u015f ve Be\u015fikta\u015f\u2019a yerle\u015fmi\u015ftir. \u00c2\u015f\u0131k kahvelerine \u00e7ok gitti\u011fi i\u00e7in \u00e7a\u011f\u0131n\u0131n b\u00fct\u00fcn saz ozanlar\u0131n\u0131 tan\u0131m\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Yaln\u0131zca hece \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcs\u00fcyle \u00fcr\u00fcnler vermekle yetinmemi\u015f divan t\u00fcr\u00fcnde de hat\u0131r\u0131 say\u0131lacak eserler vermi\u015ftir.<br \/>\nGed\u00e2\u00ee, bir s\u00fcre \u00dcsk\u00fcdar \u00e7i\u00e7ek\u00e7i kahvesini \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131rd\u0131. Tavukpazar\u0131&#8217;ndaki \u00e2\u015f\u0131klar kahvesinde saz\u0131 ve s\u00f6z\u00fcyle tan\u0131nd\u0131. \u00c7evresi giderek geni\u015fledi. \u0130stanbul&#8217;un tan\u0131nm\u0131\u015f yazar ve \u015fairlerince de be\u011fenildi. Onlar\u0131n \u00f6nerisiyle Padi\u015fah Abd\u00fclaziz&#8217;in huzurunda saz \u00e7ald\u0131 ve saray\u0131n incesaz heyetine kat\u0131ld\u0131. Bu g\u00f6revi 5. Murad d\u00f6nemine kadar s\u00fcrd\u00fcrd\u00fc. 2. Abd\u00fclhamid&#8217;in incesaz heyetini da\u011f\u0131tmas\u0131ndan sonra emekliye ayr\u0131ld\u0131. Nefeslerinden ba\u015fka halk \u015fiiri gelene\u011fine uygun s\u00f6yledi\u011fi \u015fiirleri de vard\u0131r. Sazda ustas\u0131 Erzurum&#8217;lu Emrah&#8217;t\u0131r. Mir&#8217;ati, Fenni, \u015eevki, \u0130\u015freti ve \u015eeyh Galib&#8217;in gazellerini tahmis etmi\u015ftir. Be\u015fikta\u015f&#8217;taki d\u00fckk\u00e2n\u0131nda arzuhalcilik yapt\u0131. \u0130stanbul&#8217;un \u00e7e\u015fitli semtlerinde saz \u00e7al\u0131p s\u00f6yleyerek dola\u015ft\u0131. Bu d\u00f6nem &#8220;Medet Tophaneli top top k\u0131v\u0131rc\u0131k per\u00e7emli&#8221; nakaratl\u0131 \u015fark\u0131s\u0131 \u00e7ok tutuldu. 19. Y\u00fczy\u0131l \u00e2\u015f\u0131klar\u0131 aras\u0131nda Arap\u00e7a, Fars\u00e7a s\u00f6zl\u00fck ve tamlamalara fazlaca yer veri\u015fi, hece \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcs\u00fcn\u00fcn yan\u0131nda aruzla da \u015fiir yazmas\u0131yla dikkat \u00e7eker.
